Fort Mosé 1738 Bourbon Whiskey is a product of Victor George Spirits, and it carries significant historical and cultural importance. The bourbon is named after Fort Mosé, the first legally sanctioned free black town in the present-day United States, established in 1738 just north of St. Augustine, Florida. Victor G. Harvey Sr., an African American spirits maker, created this bourbon, and it's bottled at his Palm Beach Distillery in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The whiskey is an84 proof sourced bourbon, aged for approximately 4.5 years in new charred American Oak barrels. Its mash bill comprises 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. The tasting notes include vanilla, young burnt wood, cornmeal, refined sugar, and a hint of baked apple. On the palate, it is described as smooth, with honey, dry wood, cinnamon, and vanilla. The finish is short, thin, and watery, with more spices and lingering orchard fruit flavors.
