LOS HERMANOS 1978
Los Hermanos 1978 is a premium tequila brand founded by Baltimore brothers Donta and William Henson. Their journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they decided to create a tequila that embodies the spirit of brotherhood and community. The name "Los Hermanos" translates to "The Brothers," and "1978" marks the year of Donta's birth.
Production Details: The Henson brothers traveled to Tequila, Mexico, to collaborate with Casa Maestri, a third-generation, family-owned distillery. They meticulously selected flavor profiles and designed bottles and labels to create a unique tequila made from 100% blue Weber agave. The agave is hand-selected, slow-cooked, and distilled in separate small batches, resulting in two distinct expressions:
Blanco: Unaged, highlighting the pure essence of agave with bright citrus notes.
Reposado: Aged for 8 to 10 months in white oak bourbon barrels, offering flavors of oak, caramel, and vanilla with a smooth, rich finish.
Tasting Notes:
Blanco:
Nose: Bright citrus aromas with subtle agave undertones.
Palate: Smooth and approachable, featuring sweet vanilla and caramel, with a subtle spice undertone.
Finish: Gentle and inviting, making it suitable for those new to tequila.
Reposado:
Nose: Inviting aromas of oak, caramel, and vanilla.
Palate: A smooth and balanced flavor profile featuring notes of rich caramel, subtle spice, and a hint of maple.
Finish: Long and warm, with lingering notes of sweet vanilla and gentle smoke.
Accolades: Los Hermanos 1978 has been recognized in competitions like the Ultimate Spirit Challenge and San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The Blanco expression was awarded a silver medal, and the Reposado received a bronze medal at the New York World Wine and Spirits Competition.
