Meet the Founder
Jamel Stephens, hailing from rural Oklahoma, founded Afropop in December 2023 to celebrate Black culture through craft sodas. Drawing inspiration from Afrofuturism and the legacy of Black-owned soda brands like Jay-Kola, Stephens began by experimenting with natural ingredients in his kitchen. His vision extends beyond beverages, aiming to empower local Black artists by featuring their artwork on each can, turning every drink into a canvas of cultural expression.
