Meet the Founder
Chris Montana, along with his wife Shanelle, founded Du Nord Social Spirits in 2013, establishing it as one of the first Black-owned distilleries in the United States. Transitioning from a legal career, Chris was inspired by Minnesota's evolving distillation laws and a desire to create high-quality spirits that reflect the community's rich cultural tapestry. Their journey has been marked by resilience and a commitment to social justice, especially following the events of 2020, which led to the creation of the Du Nord Foundation to support entrepreneurs and business leaders of color in the Twin Cities.
