At UrFriendCharles, we believe in building more than just a bar cart — we’re building community. That’s why we’ve partnered with GOODProjects, a powerful nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., that’s breaking the cycle of generational poverty by helping families and youth create self-sufficient lives.
Through this collaboration, a portion of all proceeds from UrFriendCharles — including purchases, partnerships, and events — will go directly to GOODProjects. That means every time you support this platform, you're also investing in families working toward financial stability, youth receiving mentorship, and communities becoming safer, stronger, and more connected.
About GOODProjects
GOODProjects was founded in 2016 by two high school rivals turned teammates, who started with a small mentoring initiative called the Credible Messenger program. What began as support for youth aged 18–21 quickly grew into something bigger: a holistic approach to empowering entire families.
Their goal is bold — and urgent. By 2030, GOODProjects aims to help 500 families in Southwest D.C. become self-sufficient, with sustained household incomes of at least $80,000 per year. They call it turning Opportunity Zones into GOOD Zones—communities that are thriving, supported, and safe.
Programs and Initiatives
Family Success Planning
Every family works with the GOOD team to define their own goals and map out a custom plan to achieve them — whether it’s job training, housing support, financial literacy, or something else entirely.
Youth Programs
GOODProjects runs a wide range of educational and recreational programming for kids and young adults — including mentorship, tutoring, and creative enrichment — all designed to keep young people engaged and inspired.
Community Safety Initiatives
In response to local violence, GOODProjects implemented safety protocols to protect children in their care. They’ve also teamed up with national partners like the NFL Players Association to increase impact and resources for local families.
GOODProjects has earned a four-star Charity Navigator rating and a 92% score, proving that your dollars are being put to real, measurable use.
