Black-Owned Wine and Spirits Retail Directory

Less than 1% of liquor stores in the U.S. are Black-owned. That gap is exactly why this directory exists.

We’ve built a growing database of 295+ Black-owned wine shops, liquor stores, and spirits retailers across all 50 states. The goal is simple: make these businesses easier to find, elevate Black ownership in the beverage industry, and help people support their communities with intention.

Whether you’re shopping for everyday bottles, craft wine, or premium spirits, spending with a Black-owned store keeps dollars local and helps build long-term wealth.

Know a store we should add? This is a community-powered resource and it’s always evolving. Submit a listing and help us build the most complete directory of Black-owned liquor stores in America.

  • Chat’s Liquors — Washington, DC (Capitol Hill)

This is where it all started for me. Chat’s was the first Black-owned liquor store where I really fell in love with learning about spirits. Bernie and the team put me onto so many Black-owned brands and helped shape how I think about selection and storytelling. Still my go-to every time I’m in DC.

  • Happy Cork — Brooklyn, NY

A Black woman-owned, beautifully curated store with a huge selection and nationwide shipping. Sunshine and the crew do an incredible job supporting small brands and building community. Always my first stop whenever I’m in New York.

  • Prohibition Liquor & Wine — Atlanta, GA

Atlanta culture through and through. Between the podcast studio, strong brand selection, and genuinely good people, this place represents ATL the right way. A great shop with real personality and a serious bottle lineup.

  • L. London Fine Wine & Spirits - Bowie MD

One of the most beautiful liquor stores I’ve ever visited. Incredible selection of Black-owned wine and spirits, amazing energy, and they’re right next to Carolina Kitchen. I love stopping in for tastings and seeing what new brands they’re bringing through.

  • Housebar — Navy Yard & Georgetown, Washington, DC

One of the most modern liquor store concepts I’ve seen. Thoughtfully curated, design-forward, and stocked with everything you need for a great dinner party. Both locations are solid, and they consistently carry strong Black-owned spirits.

  • Liquor Basket Gratiot — Detroit, MI

This place puts Detroit on the map. Massive selection of Black-owned spirits, snacks, and essentials, plus art on the walls and a restaurant inside. Pure Detroit energy and one of my first stops every time I’m in the city.

Just a heads up—some of these listings may not be perfect. This is essentially everything I pulled from Google, so if you notice anything that needs correcting or if a source should be added, please feel free to let me know. My goal is to make this a strong, reliable resource to support Black-owned businesses everywhere.

Also, just because a business is Black-owned doesn’t necessarily mean they carry Black-owned spirits—but you can always request them. We’re doing our best. At the end of the day, this is all about support, so drink what you like and support how you can.

If you see anything that looks off or want to suggest a correction, feel free to send me a note using this link .
