Meet the Founders: David and Desiree Woods
New England Sweetwater Farm & Distillery was founded by David and Desiree Woods, a husband-and-wife team who transformed their 140-acre farm in Bristol, New Hampshire, into one of the few Black-owned distilleries in the United States. Their journey began with a vision to create truly farm-to-bottle spirits, utilizing resources grown right on their property.
David brings expertise in agriculture and a passion for sustainable farming, while Desiree contributes her business acumen and creative vision to the brand. Together, they've built a distillery that honors traditional craft methods while embracing innovation. Their commitment extends beyond making exceptional spirits—they're dedicated to representation in an industry where Black ownership remains rare, and to proving that quality craft spirits can be produced sustainably from farm to bottle.
Every product from New England Sweetwater reflects the Woods' hands-on approach, from cultivating ingredients on their farm to carefully distilling and bottling each spirit. Their Ashuelot vodka, which forms the base of the Libation Lemon Drop, is a testament to their dedication to quality and authenticity.
