Old Hillside Bourbon Company was founded by childhood friends Jesse Carpenter, Brian Burton, Courtney Tucker, and Emmanuel Waters, all hailing from Durham, North Carolina. Their shared passion for bourbon and a desire to honor their heritage led to the creation of the company. The name "Old Hillside" pays homage to Hillside High School, the alma mater of several founders and one of the oldest historically Black high schools still in existence. Their mission is to celebrate history, heritage, and pay homage to those who came before them.
